The function of the Massage Therapy Board is to license individuals who use the title of massage therapist, or otherwise represent themselves to be a massage therapist, and to register massage therapy instructors and massage therapy schools.
Massage therapy is a health care service that treats soft body tissues for therapeutic purposes, primarily comfort and relief of pain. Massage therapy does not include the diagnosis or treatment of illness or disease.
The Board takes any required disciplinary action against licensed massage therapists, registered massage therapy instructors, and registered massage therapy schools proven to violate any provision of the Massage Therapy Practice Act or its Rules.
