The Governor's Hunger Action Fund
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is committed to fighting systemic childhood hunger across New Mexico
Gov. Lujan Grisham’s community-based New Mexico Hunger Action Fund, graciously administered by the Santa Fe Community Foundation, will help the state partner with nonprofits and food banks and other organizations to address food insecurity across New Mexico through innovative new programming and outreach.
This is essential work: New Mexico ranks highest in the nation for rates of child hunger, with 1 in 4 New Mexico children unsure of where their next meal will come from. While Governor Lujan Grisham simultaneously works to strengthen the safety net of state administered nutrition programs, the Governor’s New Mexico Hunger Action Fund will lead New Mexico communities to identify and mobilize resources quickly to bridge the hunger gap and meet families’ immediate need to put food on the table on evenings, weekends, during school breaks and holidays. Understanding that every New Mexico community is unique in its assets, strengths, resources, and capacity, the fund will support multiple partners, including school districts, tribal communities, local leaders, faith-based organizations and nonprofits to drive the eradication of child hunger.
