Governor declares state of emergency in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation due to wildfires 

SANTA FE – Today, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a state of emergency in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation and deployed additional National Guard to the area in response to the devastating South Fork Fire and Salt Fires. These wildfires, which ignited yesterday, have damaged more than 500 structures and led to the evacuation of the entire Village of Ruidoso. Further evacuations in nearby communities are possible. The fires have consumed nearly 20,000 acres and are currently 0% contained. The magnitude of the fires is beyond local control and requires immediate state intervention to protect public health, safety and welfare. SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced on Monday the appointment of Brad Keeler as an Eleventh Judicial District Court Judge. Keeler’s appointment fills the seat left vacant due to the retirement of the Honorable Judge Louis E. DePauli, Jr. Since 2003, Keeler practiced as an attorney at Keeler & Keeler, LLP, most recently holding the title of partner. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued a statement upon learning about the incident that took place during the Farmington High School graduation ceremony. “In New Mexico, we are proud of and committed to our diversity, and what happened at the Farmington High School graduation ceremony does not reflect that commitment.
