Governor’s Early Childhood Trust Fund legislation approved by House
SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Wednesday issued the following statement after House Bill 83, creating the Early Childhood Trust Fund, a monumental investment in the health, education and well-being of New Mexico’s youngest children, passed the House floor on a bipartisan vote of 51-14:
“The Early Childhood Trust Fund is an enormously important investment in our push to make New Mexico the best state in the country for childhood well-being. I’m incredibly proud of the Legislature for their expeditious action on this bill in both chambers. We are demonstrating to New Mexicans that we are serious about helping families and children, serious about investing in parents’ ability to provide for their kids, serious about setting our children on the path to success from the earliest age.”
Legislation establishing the Early Childhood Trust Fund is co-sponsored by Rep. Doreen Gallegos and Sen. John Arthur Smith.
